World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain® introduces five-for-$5 Original Chili Dogs
in honor of 26th annual national food holiday

For the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain® – July 19 is a very significant day of the year. On this day, Americans celebrate “National Hot Dog Day,” honoring one of the nation’s most iconic and favorite foods.

Irvine, Calif.-based Wienerschnitzel is making its restaurants the ultimate place to celebrate this year’s National Hot Dog Day with a limited time offer of five Original Chili Dogs for $5. The special price is valid only on July 19, while supplies last, at participating Wienerschnitzel restaurants. Hungry hot dog fans should know there is no limit on this deal, but customers need to order in multiples of five for the discount to apply.

“The hot dog is one of the most iconic American foods, and it’s even better with our world-famous chili,” said JR Galardi, executive vice president at Wienerschnitzel. “Since the chili dog is the original menu item that made Wienerschnitzel so popular 56 years ago, this limited offer is the most fitting way for us to celebrate National Hot Dog Day.”

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council first designated July 19 as “National Hot Dog Day” back in 1991, while also designating July as “National Hot Dog Month.” This year marks the 26th anniversary of the food holiday, which coincides with a hot dog lunch on Capitol Hill every year, on the third Wednesday in July.

According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, residence of the greater Los Angeles area – where Wienerschnitzel was founded in 1961 – consume more hot dogs than any other city (more than 36 million pounds), beating out New York and Philadelphia for the title of “Ultimate Hot Dog City.”
